Nick & the Che Culo Crew will be doing Cartel Cocktails & Drinks Specials all night serving up some fine foods
With its high, peaked roof, patterned floor tiles, curved alcoves and cut-out bricks, Che Culo – a new Australian-owned bar in BKK1 – has something of a Mediterranean theme. The food too has Greek, Spanish and Italian influences; small tapas-style dishes at night and light pastas, salads and sandwiches during the day.
“It’s loosely based on that whole [Greek island] Santorini, Italian and south of Spain feel, but done really well using local materials,” said manager and co-owner Nick Hattingh, 31, a typically laconic 15-year veteran of the hospitality industry in Australia who has a tattoo of the Che Culo bar’s logo on his left arm.
DJ Alan Ritchie
Has been buying vinyl since the late 80’s and been a regular DJ on the London club circuit since the early 90’s spinning at top clubs like The End,Gardening Club, Heaven and many more along with illegal warehouse parties and raves all over the UK. LA Synthesis AKA Linear System/Wave Effect, were formed in South London in 1992. Originally from Liverpool and Birmingham, respectively, Tony Gallagher and Carl Grant met on the fringes of the underground party scene in South East London. Discovering a shared and relatively eclectic pool of influences in common – ranging from Model 500 and Black Dog to Kraftwerk and systems composer Steve Reich – the pair began experimenting with their own tracks, though it wasn’t until promotional copies of Agrophobiabegan to emerge towards the end of 1994 that the duo started to attract attention.
/Perhaps one of the most overlooked UK techno albums of the
90’s. //Matrix Surfer//is a beautiful combination of second
– generation Detroit romanticism and inventive grooves. Hard
to find but definitely worth tracking down./
Taken from the Rough Guide to Electronic Music (1999)…
In 2010 Gallagher and Grant reformed LA Synthesis to play for Beatport in Berlin and are now composing new material and playing live. Their newest material will be released on Belgium (Antwerp ) based Techno imprint De-tuned.
