A lamp instead of a brush, darkness on canvas and a camera to get the result. What might seem very conceptual is actually a special artistic technic practiced by artists from all around the world: light painting.
The lightpainting is a technique of photo shooting. It involves using a long time exposure in a dark environment while moving a light source or the camera. The final photograph reveals all light traces due either to the direct exposure of the sensor to the light source or illuminated objects. The interest of the photo is in the quality of the game of light and product or calligraphy represented.
In the photographs presented in Chinese Lantern no photoshop or other editing editing has been done! Any drawing or light staging were performed manually with technicality…
