Cambodia Underground Club guide – Friday 15th November
Well, the Water Festival is upon us and it heralds another fantastic weekend of Underground events in Phnom Penh, Kampot, Sihanoukville and Siem Reap.
Too many nights to fully mention here, so just the highlights – for the full line-up, check our events calendar
On Friday the 15th, check out the Masquerade Ball and celebrate a year of the ShowBox – it’s been a year of ups and downs for Myles and Darin – but they’re still standing and strengthening their position as one of the key players in the Phnom Penh underground scene (https://www.facebook.com/events/599302650130389)
Saturdays looking very nice – my personal pick is the Rom Bak Hip Hop Battle at Slur Bar – international breakers will battle with the best of the local Khmer talent (“there can be only one“!). An event that really deserves your support. (https://www.facebook.com/events/1451514791740458/)
Also, if you’re enjoying your Water festival down in Kampot, check out Gobshite and Kdam at the Naga House. Gobshite can always be relied on to spit the tuffest and funniest rhymes in the Kingdom. (https://www.facebook.com/events/1390194761221768/)
Down in Sihanoukville, all roads lead to the Drop Dead Disco night at Otres Beach – Simon C Vent and danbeck from Kimchi will be playing the purest house vibes by the sea (https://www.facebook.com/events/174348869434132)
For all you Angkor dwellers in Siem Reap, check out my man Possum spinning the best TechHouse at the Brazil Cafe (https://www.facebook.com/events/1390194761221768/)
On Sunday, the party continues with the highly anticipated Full Moon Party on Koh Rong Saloem island with the mighty Funkelasticks and his crew – should be good! (https://www.facebook.com/cmfparty)
If you’re more of a Full Moon by the river person, check out the party at Arcadia in Kampot with danbeck from Kimchi (https://www.facebook.com/events/1434726263417206/)
As I said at the top, loads of great events happening this weekend – for more details, check our events calendar and remember – keep it underground
PS – something to get you in the mood – Detroit techno master Stacey Pullen live in the mix (thanks to Alan Ritchie for this)
